There are many reasons to build a digital media library at home since PS3 came to my home. One of the key reason is the backup purpose. As well-known that Audio CD could not fail after stored for very long period, I need to backup (digitize) the CDs to a data files and store it.
Another reasons like: as I am a collector, CD, downloaded files, are explosive growing. I am very difficult to find what I want to play; I'd like to play song from difference player/computer...etc.
Therefore I need a good solution to manage my digital stuffs.
The very first step:
Digitize Audio CD for archiving and Building audio library
First of all, I need to keep my CD in a safe place. Especially in Hong Kong, high humidity is a big killer for many things including CD/DVD. So before placing the discs into a box, I need to convert the CD to a file for ready-playback.
There are may methods to backup a CD. I have selected one method and share here:
- Download and install "Exact Audio Copy" software (a.k.a. EAC) [See: http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/]
- Download and replace EAC's FLAC by FLAC 64bit version
- Configure EAC Below are the setting I am using:
